TUNGUSKA 2001 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
CONTENTS
1. GENERAL INFORMATION
It seemed that it was a proper time to have a new conference of Tunguska, and Tunguska 2001 sounds rather good. I talked with several Tunguska researchers, and they approved the idea.
Unfortunately, since early 1960s there are no systematic state-funded Tunguska research, so since that time almost all Tunguska research, conferences, were done just with occasional fundings, or even without any funding at all. Similar situation was in 1995, when Tunguska researchers having no financial support (Russian Min. of Science and Technology gave some financial support at the last moment), were able to organize Tunguska 95 international conference. Of course, the main topic was Tunguska: factual data, as well as interpretations of Tunguska. Till now there are about a hundred of hypotheses - from an iron meteorite fall to poltergeist-like (see, for example, Abstracts of the Tunguska 98 conference). And a couple more new ones were delivered at the TUNGUSKA 2001 conference! Besides Tunguska, topics of the conference included related items, i.e other similar (whatever origin, as we don't know Tunguska's origin) similar natural events (including on other scales).
I am glad to inform you that the conference was successfully finished. All planned reports (of the Moscow part) were delivered, and as I know, about the same situation was in Krasnoyarsk with 15 reports delivered.
We had many mass-media, including Russian, German, and Swedish TV at our conference.
2. PLACE AND TIME
The conference was held in Moscow, a capital of Russia, and in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia.
In Moscow the conference was held in Mephi.
Date of the conference was on June 30 - July 1, 2001 in Moscow, and July 2 in Krasnoyarsk, and July 2 - July 7 for the trip to the Tunguska epicenter (see below).
We had a few days long trip to the Tunguska epicenter right after the conference, as it was during Tunguska 95 and Tunguska 98 conferences. If you want to better understand what the trip means, you can look at some pictures.
